The French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu introduced the idea of “Habitus” as a collective entity where dominant social and cultural conditions shape structural positions. Hence, the agencies formed generated by actions coming from such a place reflect and reproduce the same social structures.

In this exhibition, an inquiry to habitus is found among the works of the artists whose individual systems are formed by the schemes of perception, conception, and action expected as influential to production. Here, the notion of “home” is placed at the center of these factors and used as representation to habitus; how we observe its dynamics, from simple to becoming complex, all in the purpose of understanding that the objects, images, and ideas we produce are all heavily tainted by where we come from.

Habitus will run from November 6 to November 27, 2019
